Apple has officially announced the iPhone 15 series, bringing the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Some notable upgrades include USB Type-C support, Dynamic Island, replacing the mute switch with an Action Button, and other changes.

So, if you have been wondering which smartphone you should consider buying if you want to go for the regular iPhone 15, then you are right because there are not so many pro upgrades to the iPhone 15 Pro. Let us see why you should buy the iPhone 15 instead of the iPhone 15 Pro. Without further ado, let’s take a closer look.

Buy the iPhone 15 regular instead of the iPhone 15 Pro and Max Pro.

There are notable improvements made to the regular iPhone 15 if we compare it to the iPhone 15 Pro series. In India, the device will be sold for Rs. 54,000, similar to last year.

Reasons to buy the iPhone 15 over the iPhone 15 Pro series

Let us closely examine some of the highlights of why I think the iPhone 15 is better than the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Design

It comes in five different color options, all with the iPhone 15 having matte black glass and aluminum sides. This has several benefits, like not holding fingerprints and feeling good in the hand. The design remains the same, meaning high quality, like last year.

Camera upgrade

After a long time, there was a camera upgrade to the regular iPhone series. Regarding the camera, there is a 48MP camera module that uses pixel-binning, resulting in 24MP by default in the background. It is designed to take high-resolution photos and offers 2x telephoto capability to capture 12MP pictures.

When it comes to video recording, you can record videos in 4K using a capable camera sensor taken from last year’s flagship iPhone 14 Pro series. It offers a 0.5x ultra-wide-angle lens, a macro lens, and a 2x telephoto lens.

All of these improvements are achieved with an advanced neural engine. For a lower price, it provides similar picture and video quality to the iPhone 15 Pro, making it a good choice if you consider a new iPhone at a lower price.

Display

It is packed with a Retina XDR display with a peak brightness of 2000nits, similar to the Pro variant. However, it does not have Pro Motion, which still operates at 60Hz. The lack of a 120Hz refresh rate is disappointing.

Finally, a dynamic island was introduced last year with the iPhone 14 Pro. There are now more screens compared to the previous generation. Overall, the display remains excellent for general use at a lower price while remaining similar to the higher variants.

USB Type-C port

Ahead of EU law, Apple finally brings USB Type-C support across their devices, including the iPhone 15. This unlocks several things, like charging other devices and supporting a wide range of accessories. Also, this allows users to charge their devices using any USB Type-C, but on the iPhone 15, it is USB 2 instead of USB Type-C 3.

This is not acceptable because USB 2.0 has slower transfer speeds. However, most of the cables available on the market support USB 2, which allows you to use any cable, but for USB 3, you need to check for it, and you will not miss anything except speed.

Performance

Under the hood, the device is powered by an Apple A16 Bionic, used in last year’s flagship. It boosts speed by approximately 10% in CPU performance and 25% in GPU performance. Most users will not even notice any performance differences in their daily tasks. As for general tasks like surfing the internet, casual gameplay, social media, streaming, and camera usage, there will not be any issues with that.

Buy the iPhone 15 instead of the iPhone 15 Pro series.

With the highlighted features, there is no major reason except for a new processor, action button, titanium body, and camera improvements. All the primary things needed are well-packed in the regular iPhone 15 series.

If we compare the price-to-performance ratio, the iPhone 15 series is high, especially for a country like India. Considering all things, including that the iPhone 15 series costs almost double, this can be a deal-breaker for some heads. If you want to spend extra money or spare for an unnecessary purchase, consider buying the iPhone 15 Pro series.
