Since Microsoft released its 22H2 build of Windows 11, they have been very focused on improving the user experience. They have introduced a new update process called Moment, which allows them to quickly fix issues and add new features to Windows through regular updates.

Looking back, Microsoft launched Windows 11 22H2 in 2022 and introduced the first Moment update soon after. This update added a new tabbed file explorer, suggested actions, and more. The second Moment update, Moment 2, made further improvements. The third Moment update has now been released, and we will explore its changes below.

Microsoft released another Windows 11 Moment Update, Moment 3.

Since the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft has been caring about it a lot. They always wanted to provide quality service, especially when switching to a new version with new features and bugs. The 22H2 build of Windows 11 has many better features than previous versions, but it also has some bugs that might cause inconvenience. Microsoft has adopted a special way to optimize Windows 11 with multiple “Moment” updates throughout the year to fix those issues.

So far, Microsoft has updated Windows 11 three times, including the recent Moment 3 release. You might have already installed the last two Moment updates and enjoyed the new features and bug fixes. However, the last Moment 2 update had known issues like slow file copying and other utility function issues.

To address these issues, Microsoft released Moment 3 on May 25th, which fixed all the previously identified issues. They also added some new features along with improvements. Let’s look at what’s new in the Moment 3 update.

Added more language to the live caption

Windows accepts that language is often a barrier to the best user experience. Many times, people face difficulty getting their language choice in the live caption feature. Most of the languages were still left to be added to that feature. But now Moment 3 has updated things by adding more language support for live captions.

Improved the widget board and layout

Previously, at the moment, after two updates, the Windows 11 22H2 version seems outdated. Because that widget board lacked the features needed in today’s time. And, of course, the layout was also familiar with previous Windows version trends. Getting known for this, Microsoft updated the widget board and layout to comply with today’s user expectations.

A new animated weather icon

In Moment 3, the developers added a new style of weather icon to your Windows. Previously, it was still a Windows Weather Icon experience. But with new expectations, the Windows 11 Moment 3 update added an animated weather icon so that users feel the weather status is almost real. For cloudy, it shows animated clouds; for rain, it shows raindrops happening; and so on.

We were all happy when Microsoft introduced Bing AI, but visiting Bing’s webpage to use AI seemed awkward. It feels most comfortable when we are using Microsoft’s products. For this thing, Microsoft finds a need to add a Bing AI button to the taskbar’s search bar. And so on. At the moment, there are three updates: they embedded the Bing AI button in the Windows search bar to ease AI usage.

Secure notifications with a 2FA code

Along with these features, there is also a need for improvement on previous mistakes. Earlier, anyone could access notifications, even the important and confidential ones. But with Moment 3, developers introduced two-factor authentication to such notifications. So, even if anyone tries to open that notification, he must pass through that authentication.

Added Multi-App Kiosk Mode

Windows is known for multi-tasking across the globe. But that feature seems old if you look at it with today’s user expectations. Now people want more flexibility for multiple app usage. For this thing, developers added a multi-app kiosk mode so you can experience multi-tasking while using Windows.

Develop live kernel dumps in the task manager.

No matter how much efficiency the Windows PC has, you will not have access to dumps. Because everyone has a different style of Windows usage, it further suits the individual user. For that, kernel dumps are an important one. However, you can do that through a command prompt or another way. But the Moment 3 update resolved this by adding live kernel dumps to the Task Manager.

Added Windows 365 boot

Another important feature the Windows 11 Moment 3 update added is Windows 365 boot (preview). After all, Microsoft 365 is a keen tool for Windows users, and previously there was no scope for such a thing. Thanks to such an update, Microsoft 365 has been booted. I agree that it is still under preview, but it will be a complete version soon.

New Win32 app isolation feature

Users need a Win32 app for a better experience, similar to Microsoft 365. After the last two updates, developers noticed users wanted an isolation feature for the Win32 app. I agree that it is a core Windows app that doesn’t need to be isolated, but for some users, it works as a boon. Microsoft believes in being the best for everyone and is known for its flexibility. That’s why we have the Win32 Isolation feature in Moment 3, but note that it is still under preview.

We made major changes with these additions or updates, which were different from the previous ones. However, there are also some minor additions and improvements, such as the visible clock seconds in the system tray, the glanceable VPN status icon in the Taskbar, improvements with voice access, updated touch keyboard settings, cloud suggestion in simplified Chinese IME, access to the US4 settings page, a lighter search box under app mode, access keys in File Explorer, optimized settings search, and presence sensing settings.
