Microsoft has released Windows 11 for modern computers, and in this guide, we will be sharing an in-depth guide on how you can install Windows 11 on any PC. In comparison to the previous version, Windows 11 has completely revamped the visuals and hardware support, so now it requires heavy system requirements. Because of this, there are many computers left unsupported by Windows 11, and users are unable to install the latest version of Windows on their PCs.
One of the most notable hardware requirements is the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), which requires 4GB of RAM and an x64-based processor. There are plenty of laptops that are quite reliable and still capable of handling tasks like a charm, but you can’t do much if you have an x86 CPU. However, you can bypass the requirements for specific CPUs or TPM support. So, without further ado, let’s get into this.
Check for TPM.
Your PC may have TPM or Secure Boot, but on older hardware, it was disabled by default and can be enabled in your system BIOS. To do this, you need to press the hotkey, which could be Esc, F1, F2, or another button on your keyboard, depending on your manufacturer. After entering your system BIOS, you can find this under the Security section of your BIOS, TPM, and Secure Boot. From there, you need to enable these features. If you don’t find these settings in your BIOS, then you can continue with the following steps: After confirming that you have a Windows 11 unsupported PC, you can proceed with further instructions.
Note: If you have installed Windows 11 on an unsupported PC, you will not be able to receive future updates. However, you shouldn’t have much of a problem as long as you download the latest Windows 11 package. Also, some unsupported hardware is likely to encounter performance and stability issues.
Create a custom ISO using RUFUS.
This is one of the most useful tools to create a bootable installation driver for Windows and other popular operating systems. Developers have added features to make it easier to install Windows 11 on unsupported devices. For this, you need an empty USB flash drive. Make sure you have a proper backup before you start installing Windows 11.
- Download the latest Windows 11 ISO here, or download the Windows 11 latest development ISO,
- After downloading, download and install Rufus from the official website.
- After that, plug in your USB flash drive to your PC, and then launch Rufus on your PC.
- From there, choose the drive from the device drop-down menu selections.
- Under Boot Selection, browse to the ISO file that you want to boot from your USB flash drive.
- Click “Start” at the bottom of the window. After that, there will be a series of prompts where it will ask you to disable all compatibility checks for Secure Boot, TPM, specific CPUs, and even RAM. Alternatively, you can download the latest Windows 11 ISO for unsupported machines here.
- Check the checkbox for customizing the Windows installation based on your preferences, then click OK and wait for it to process.
- Once it finishes, you will have a Windows 11 bootable drive that you can install on any PC.
- Now, you can start installing Windows 11 on your PCs.
Apart from this, there are many reasons why Windows 11 doesn’t run on specific hardware, and there are multiple workarounds to make bootable Windows 11 for unsupported devices. We have found this to be one of the most effective ways to do so. This is because there are already some other methods, including bypassing Windows 11 requirements with the Registry Editor and Windows 11 with launch parameters.
