The American video streaming platform Twitch has announced an updated revenue-sharing model for creators called the Twitch Partner Plus Program. Having been at the top of the list for 12 years, Twitch is the world’s most popular streaming service. Here, millions of users actively watch content, but as we all know, content without creators is impossible.
For this purpose, Twitch has started a revenue-generating model where content creators get paid for their content. Specifically, Twitch creators initially receive half of the revenue from their content, with the other half allocated to Twitch. This seems like an excellent way to inspire creators, but recently, they added another option to earn. So, let’s look at what’s included in the Partner Plus Programme.
Twitch Announces Partner Plus Programme, Letting Creators Get 70/30 Revenue Share
As I mentioned, Twitch originally shared a 50 percent revenue share with the creator and kept the rest for the platform. However, it takes work to earn money from Twitch content; some requirements must be fulfilled before monetizing it. These requirements include having at least 50 followers, 500 total broadcast minutes in the last 30 days, 7 unique broadcast days in the previous 30 days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers or more over the last 30 days. After fulfilling these conditions, creators will receive shares in a 50/50 split.
But what if you could get a 70 percent revenue share from your content? After the September 2022 plan discussion, Twitch implemented its revenue-sharing program this month. Partner Plus participants will receive a 70 percent revenue share from monthly subscriptions and gifts, but only on the first $100,000 annually. Eventually, the split will change to 50/50. This significant revenue-sharing change will encourage users to shift from the Affiliate Programme to the Partner Plus Programme.
Sponsorships are critical to streamers’ growth and ability to earn income. We will not prevent your ability to enter into direct relationships with sponsors—you will continue to own and control your sponsorship business. (June 7, 2023)
Following the announcement that you could get a 70 percent share, many of you want to know how to join such a program. However, it is worth noting that the recently launched Partner Plus program also has requirements similar to those of the Affiliate Ram. Specifically, you must sign up for the Partner Plus program and maintain 350 recurring paid subscribers for three consecutive months. However, multi-month subscriptions are included and counted as single subscriptions. This does not include gifts or Prime subscriptions.
There is also a question about joining such a program, so you must accept the newly updated monetized streaming agreement. Once you accept that, you will automatically be enrolled in this program, provided the requirements are met. One thing to note is that members of the Partner Plus program who already receive a premium revenue share under the Twitch program will not be eligible to join Partner Plus. Although most criteria are clear, as a user, how do you know when you will reach that 350th sub-qualification?

Twitch has a tracking option for this. From there, under the earning section, change the drop-down to “month” and check whether you meet the minimum requirements for the Partner Plus Program. These are the things I like about this updated revenue-sharing model. If we talk about its features, you will get custom chat badges, custom emotes, a verified user badge, lifetime channel subscriptions, extended VOD storage, priority support, stream delay, and many more.
This revised revenue-sharing model from Twitch will encourage creators to make the highest-quality content. This updated program will be available in October 2023, so fulfill the 350-submission requirement within three months. After this, Twitch will review your progress, and you can join this brand-new revenue-sharing model. Meanwhile, prepare for this upcoming change and earn more to get 70 percent above the $100,000 annual threshold.
