Spotify is rolling out its newly designed changes for the Mac. The company recently rolled out a major revamp to its app on iPhone earlier this month. Spotify aims to offer more customisation and accessibility to its users with direct access to the Spotify Collection with the overhaul.
They are bringing a native salutation and familiarity to users using the app on mobile devices. It now looks more like the mobile platform Spotify. They are trying to improve access to the collection and keep up with the content. This time, it is also said to be more customisable according to the user’s preferences.
Spotify Redesigned “Your Library Sidebar”
There is a new sidebar on the left side of the app. From there, you can access all content types and collections, including all Spotify libraries, including artists, playlists, albums, podcasts, and more. Users can also pin content they want to see more often based on their preferences.
Of course, the sidebar on Spotify is completely responsive, so you can have flexible sizing. You can also hover and click on the right edge of the sidebar to drag it to your preferred width. Regardless of your desktop screen size, it will adopt your best suit. You can also expand it completely by clicking on the arrow button at the app’s top. You can fully collapse the sidebar by clicking on Your Library’s heading to see only art covers.
What’s new in Spotify for Mac?
- Able to view the complete collection and all types of content at once.
- The collection can be filtered by playlist, artist, album, or podcast.
- Allows you to combine with other filters like By You, By Spotify, and Downloaded.
- You can easily sort your collection by Recent, Recently Added, Alphabetical, Creators, and Custom Order.
- The app will remember your chosen filter and sort options. These will be saved to continue even if you restart or open the app on another device.
- Search works on the collection in the sidebar, and Pinned Library also works faster to find favorites. However, it is currently limited to 4 playlists, 4 playlist folders, 4 artists, 4 albums, or 4 podcasts.
- Art covers now appear in the sidebar. The Compact Library Layout can be customised from Spotify settings to increase content density.
- Create a playlist or playlist folder; it has a dedicated folder. Create a new playlist or folder by clicking the ++ icon.
- It has flexible sizing, a collapse library view to maximise browsing areas, a regular width view, an expand view for more focused library management, and curation with cover only and drag to customise the size.
Spotify is rolling out and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks, available on Mac, Windows, and the Web. Despite being available on the web player, most of the functionality may or may not be supported. Instead, try using the desktop app for all support.
