Samsung Developments has always had a craving for those who are always looking for new software or app updates. Similarly, this time Samsung updated its messaging app by rolling out three updates on the same day. As of now, the update is only available for South Korean users. However, the translated changelog states that an additional feature has been added to the app.

According to the changelog, Samsung Messages now has integration with Pay, allowing people to gift in group chats. This feature is similar to Google Pay’s Group Sharing, but Samsung Messages also includes an electronic document box, UI improvements, and more. Here, we explain everything about this integration.

Samsung Messages has been updated many times before, and that’s the reason why we now have a complete package of features in a single app. Some of the standout features include group text, schedule messages, a customised chat room, your conversation category, new offers updates, a custom notification sound, a recycle bin, and many other minor helpful things.

Even though it has such a lineup of features, developments never end. That’s why Samsung released three updates for the Messages app: 14.1.32.21, 14.1.35.5, and 14.1.36.1. Surprisingly, the changelog is the same for all these updates, but it seems that there were some bugs in the first update that were later fixed through the third update. Before anything else, let’s take a clear view of the updated changelog.

  • Support Electronic Document Box: Now, after the new update, you can use an electronic document box. Whenever important documents are shared, all of them will be stored in one place, making it easier to access them quickly.
  • Allows Samsung Pay to be used as a gift in Group Chats: Samsung Pay is the only app from Samsung to serve instant payments, including Wallet. Previously, we needed to pay through the Samsung app. But now, with the latest Messages app update, we can use Samsung Pay as a gift in group chats.
  • Support Chat and Help: If there is any grievance with the app service or any related issue, the user can resolve the issue using the same Messages app without needing to search for another app or visit Samsung’s website.
  • UI Improvements and Bug Fixes: OneUI has not left anything for updating, but Samsung still tries to improve the user experience with small changes. There have been a few bugs that caused problems for users, but with this new update, all the issues have been resolved, and you can move on without having to worry about anything.

Now that you have learned about Samsung Pay’s integration with Messages, including the purpose for which it arrived, one question comes to mind: how to get this new update? For this, we share instructions on how to do it below.

Note: The Messages app update is presently rolling out in Korea, but as promised, it will gradually be released in other countries too. So, in case you can’t see that update option, don’t panic and wait until the right time comes to update it.

  • Open the Galaxy Store on your device.
  • Next, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) at the bottom right.
  • In the next step, look for the Messages app.
  • After that, tap on the update option that appears next to the Messages app.
  • As a result, it will start updating and updating to the latest version.
  • That’s all; now you can use Samsung Pay with the Messages App.

Now, the next thing that can trouble you a lot is how to pay through Samsung Pay in the Messages app. Unfortunately, there is no exact way to pay through Messages since it is currently available only in South Korea. But still, based on WhatsApp Pay and similar integrations, we share steps to use Samsung Pay on the Samsung Messages app so that you can get a basic idea.

Note: Before going ahead, make sure you and your recipient have installed and set up Samsung Pay on your device. You can do that by downloading and installing Samsung Pay from the Galaxy Store, opening Samsung Pay, logging in or signing up to your account, adding a bank or UPI, creating a PIN, and that’s it.

  • Open the Messages app.
  • Then, head to the chat where you want to pay.
  • Now, tap on the text box to avail of the Samsung Pay option.
  • After that, you will see a Samsung Pay option there.
  • Tap on that option so that the Samsung Pay interface will open.
  • Next, pay the amount by entering your Samsung Pay PIN.
  • Following that, your recipient will receive a message with a link to claim.
  • When they claim the amount, the amount will be credited to their account.
  • That’s it. In this way, you can also pay through the Messages app.

Besides that, I want to let you know that Samsung Messages is a custom version of Google Messages. Recently, Google Messages went into beta testing to implement new features. These features are AI-generated replies, end-to-end encryption, a vertical photo picker gallery, a redesigned voice recorder, and more. Meanwhile, along with Samsung Pay integration, users will get more functionality in the Samsung Messages app.
