Recently, Realme launched Realme X2 in India. Which is a successor to the Realme XT device. The device was teased initially with a Realme XT 730G. Before I continue this review, let me tell you that the Realme X2 uses the same design language as the Realme XT, and the performance improvement is the chipset.
Realme X2 completely knocks off the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi K20, and Nokia 7.2 devices with its offerings in terms of power, design, and other capabilities that any of these devices offer. The device’s dimensions are 158.7 x 75.2 x 8.6 mm, secured with Gorilla Glass 5 front and back. The device has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display featuring 2340×1080 Pixels at 402 PPI.
Before continuing with this article, here are some quick specs. The device comes with a 6.4-inch super-a-MOLED display with a mini-waterdrop notch at the top of the display panel. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Octa-Core Snapdragon 730G based on an 8nm FinFET process, 4GB/6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 64GB/128GB of UFS2.1 onboard storage.
Therefore, it stands against the Xiaomi Redmi K20, which is definitely better. The device’s rear panel gets scratched easily, even with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device frame has a polycarbonate power button and a volume rocker. It also has Widevine L1 support, which means you will get full HD+ video streaming content and HDR support. As for security, it also has facial recognition utilization and a selfie camera face unlock.
Regarding camera performance, the device has a quad-rear camera module aligned vertically on the rear panel. Where is housing a 64MP f/1.8 + 8MP Super-Wide Angle + 2MP Macro + 2MP Depth Sensor? Meanwhile, the front is a 32 MP selfie shooter.
Under the hood, the device has a 4000mAh battery and uses a VOOC 4.0 30W Fast Charging adapter. However, the device runs out of the box on Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6. There is also an optical fingerprint scanner with the latest sensor, which can be unlocked in 0.25 seconds.
First, the device is identical to the Realme XT, but it introduced the latest avocado green color. The screen is a super-a-MOLED display featuring a flash-in-display fingerprint scanner. Some optimizations, like flicker-free and auto-brightness, worked seamlessly; you wouldn’t even notice it when switching it automatically.
The device also has an Always on Display but has yet to be customized. However, it looks promising after the upcoming update. Overall, the device uses an excellent display panel in this segment. Furthermore, the processor used in this device is the major upgrade over the Realme XT. The Realme X2 has a curved rear panel, suggesting a comfortable zone.
Under the hood, the device comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC, and it has a significant advantage alongside the Adreno 618 GPU and CPU performance. The device scored more than 600,000 points compared to Realme XT. This means it’s a good gaming smartphone; even the Realme XT doesn’t. Moreover, the connectivity is quite acceptable regarding network reception, and it has an excellent earpiece output, a microphone, and a secondary microphone.
As for speaker quality, the device uses a single-firing bottom speaker. It is loud, and they still retain the 3.5mm audio jack and even the DOLBY Atmos support on the device itself. Likely, the RAM management of the device is excellent for memory storage during general use. Not to mention, the upcoming updates will improve more.
The Realme X2 has slightly more efficient power consumption to power the device because of the Snapdragon 730G, which is based on the 8nm FinFET process. This means it can quickly go for one day without charging for general use. Even the device comes with a 30W Super VOOC4.0 charger out of the box. Which was faster than Realme XT with a 20W VOOC charger.
Regarding camera performance, this device uses the same camera module as in Realme XT, but the front has 32 MP instead of 16 MP. The device has been great, significantly improving difficult low-light conditions. You can record video in 4K, and you can also record wide-angle video at 1080, even if it has OIS for super-studio video recording. The device also sports a nightscape for selfies, portrait mode video recording, and a rear camera.
We suggest you turn off the Chrome Boost for general usage because the device will automatically apply the AI scene. There were many things in Realme X2 that compared to Redmi K20, as far as you go. The device also helps record slow-motion video at 960 fps and has a portrait mode for both rear and front video recording. Which is missing from the flagship device? Also, the default Enable a Camera2API means you can run Google Camera just fine.
The rear panel of the device just attracts fingerprints a lot if you use it without a case. Also, it wobbles on the table because the device has a camera module bump. The ideal variant of the device you should go for is a 6GB configuration for future readiness. The device will get Android 10-based ColorOS 7 in Q1 of 2020. Thanks for being with us.
