Realme launched Realme 5s, a slightly refreshing variant of Realme 5. If you recall, just a few months ago, they launched Realme 5. They share the same DNA, and both devices are identical. The only significant difference is that the Realme 5 has a 12 MP quad camera, and the Realme 5s has a 48 MP Samsung GM1 quad camera. There is not much; almost the same device. This is why we don’t do an in-depth review but a mini-review.

It has a 6.5-inch IPS LCD with a 750p resolution and a waterdrop notch on the display. While this is a refreshed version, it should at least serve as a 1080p display. Realme 5s had the same rear panel crystal pattern design, but they introduced a red color variation this time. Again, the device’s rear panel is a polycarbonate rear panel, but it reflects the light. The power button is placed on the right, and the volume rocks are on the left, as with the usual Realme device. It has a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port, and single speaker grills on the bottom.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 655 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of onboard storage. Further, you can expand the storage using dedicated microSD card support. The chipset is all right, but at least there is a new variant. We can expect a Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Regarding camera performance, the device has a quad rear camera setup aligned vertically on the left side of the rear panel, housing a 48 MP F/1.8 MP primary, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2 MP macro, and a 2 MP depth sensor. On the front is a 13MP selfie shooter hidden inside the waterdrop notch.

This device has a 48MP Sony IMX586, which can capture good images, 2x and 5x digital zoom support, and other modes like portrait, scene detection, and wide-angle lenses. Likewise, it captures many details compared to Realme 5 and has good softness under artificial conditions. Also, the front-facing camera is excellent; expect a layover portrait mode.

Also, they provide a USB Type-C port in the budget range, which offers more productivity. They even bundled a 5V/2A (standard) charger in the box because it has a 5000mAh battery. It runs on Android 9.1-based Custom Skin ColorOS 6.1 out of the box. As for security, it has ColorOS, which has excellent security, and the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is relatively fast. Even though face unlock is rapid, we suggest you use a physical sensor instead of face unlock.

After booting up the device, you will notice some bloatware you can install. If you want to buy this smartphone, we recommend purchasing a base variant of 4/64GB. Meanwhile, you have extended storage support. Where it has a single variable, it doesn’t have future proof if you purchase a higher variable; instead, buy an SD card and use it as your storage. Realme 5s starts at Rs 9999. Thanks for being with us. If you want to read the complete configuration. Share your feedback, opinion, and feedback in the comment section down below.
