The Amazon App Store on the Fire Tablet doesn’t have many apps to keep you interested, but adding the Google Play Store opens up a world of apps that will keep you hooked on your Fire Tablet. In this guide, we are going to share how to install the Google Play Store on an Amazon Fire Tablet.

Download the APK from the Google Play Store.

Please make sure that your Amazon Fire Tablet is no older than the 2014 edition, as this installation will not work on older Fire Tablet editions. You need to enable ‘Apps From Unknown Sources’ on the older editions, but this option is not available on the older Fire Tablet editions.

To enable ‘Apps From Unknown Sources’ on your Fire Tablet:

  • Go to the ‘Settings’ app.
  • Select ‘Security & Privacy’ from the menu.
  • Choose ‘Apps From Unknown Sources’ and click on it.
  • Enable ‘Allow From This Source’ in the Silk Browser.

To install from the Google Play Store, you will need to locate the APK files.

To find your Amazon Fire Tablet model:

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Device Options’ > ‘About Fire Tablet’.

To find the Fire OS version:

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Device Options’ > ‘System Updates’.

Amazon Fire Tablet: Download and install the Google Play Store

Start by opening the ‘Files’ app from the main menu. Then, click on the ‘Downloads’ option on the side menu of the ‘Files’ app and switch it to the ‘List’ view. The four APK files you downloaded should be visible. To install these 4 APKs, follow these steps: Click on an APK file, select ‘Continue’, and click ‘Install’. Once the file has been installed, click ‘Done’.

Note: At this point, you still haven’t opened the Play Store.

The APKs should be installed in the following order (note: on tablets, the APK file names will be longer):

  • com.google.android.gsf.login
  • com.google.android.gsf
  • com.google.android.gms
  • com.android.vending

After installing all 4 APK files, you must restart the tablet. To do so, briefly press the power button and select the ‘Restart’ option. After the tablet restarts, the Google Play Store should appear on the home screen. Simply click on it and log in using your Google account to finish the installation.

We hope that you have successfully installed the Google Play Store on your Amazon Fire Tablet. Thank you for following along with us.
