After releasing the Android 13-based OxygenOS 13 for the OnePlus 9 series, the company is now rolling out the Android 13 update for the OnePlus 8 series after weeks of beta testing. Samsung is one of the smartphone OEMs rolling out Android updates, and OnePlus is prepared to compete with their update support.
OnePlus is updating its 8 Series, and you can upgrade to the latest version from the device settings. This is an OTA update, for which you can navigate to device settings, go to system update, and check for the update. Click on Download and Install to upgrade your device’s OS to the latest version.
The updated weight is 5GB in size; the update brings all the basic Android 13 features that Google announced. This update also bundles the October 2022 Android security patch for the device.

First, you need to download the OTA package and store it in your device’s root folder on the device’s internal storage.
- Open the device settings.
- Head over to System Update and tap on the gear icon in the screen’s top-right corner.
- After that, tap on the Lock Upgrade option and choose the Update package.
- Next, choose Install Now, and then tap Install when it prompts.
- That’s it!

The OxygenOS 13 Beta Build for the OnePlus 8 Series and OnePlus 9R is now available.
OnePlus started rolling out the OxygenOS 14 stable build for the OnePlus 10 Pro, and the company released the OxygenOS 13 beta for the OnePlus 8 Series and OnePlus 9R. However, it’s currently available to download and upgrade in India. But it will extend to another region quite quickly by the end of this month.
So, suppose you own a device in India. In that case, you can try OxgenOS 13 on your OnePlus 8 Series, which includes the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 9R. Since this is beta, installing it on your primary device is not advised.
If you want to roll back to the previous version, then with the Rollback package, you can roll back to Android 12. How to Install the OxygenOS 13 Open Beta Package
- After downloading, enable developer mode from the device settings (About device> Version > (Tap x7 times on the build number, and then it will ask for your PIN to enable developer mode.)
- Now, go back to the About screen.
- Click on the gear icon at the top of the Next Local Install display to browse the package from the saved location.
- After that, click on Extract and then on Upgrade.
- Choose System Upgrade, and that’s it!
