Soon after the release of Android 14, Samsung officially announced the One UI 6 Beta. Users can start enrolling their devices in the Android 14-based One UI 6 Beta, which brings many improvements and many new features. Samsung’s custom skin has additional features on top of Android 14 to enhance productivity and the experience of using Android on their devices.
Instead of releasing One UI 5.1.1, Samsung released One UI 6 with the Android 14 update, which offers a more user-friendly experience. It is pretty feature-heavy and has tonnes of apps to support. Samsung is slowly expanding its One UI 6 Beta programme to more regions, with flagship devices getting the One UI 6 update first, followed by other Samsung devices. The company offers four years of Android updates, and many devices will receive the update.

With the update, there are also updates to stock apps like the redesigned Samsung Health and a new video editor named Studio. Here are some of the key highlights of the new features of One UI 6 Beta: It also has new features that revolve around Samsung Health, Camera Video Editor, Quick Panel, Home Screen, Calendar, Samsung Internet, Samsung Pass, and My Documents.
- Samsung Health revamped: The home screen of Samsung Health has bold fonts and vibrant colours, allowing easy access to vital health information, including exercise results and other daily goals for steps, activity, water, and food intake. There is also an option to customise the water cup sizes in the water tracker, aligning hydration goals with individual habits.
- Camera and Video Editing: Much new functionality has been added to the camera software. Users can now turn off the swipe gesture for camera switching to avoid accidental switches and grant users more control. This includes a new video editor called Studio, which offers complex video editing capabilities.
- Streamlined Notifications and Interaction: Completely new notifications have separate cards, which are now easier to distinguish and manage. The alignment of the notification icon with the app icon on the home screen further simplifies identification, offering a consistent visual language throughout the interface.
- Productivity and Ease of Use: There is a new font to address user interaction, but we also added new drag-and-drop items to the home screen. It adds a layer of convenience, allowing users to initiate actions with one hand while navigating the screen with the other.
It has also improved the animation and several elements of OneUI 6. These adjustments appear modern and reduce the revamped Quick Panel, allowing users to offer convenience and visual adjustments. Up front, security measures have also been strengthened so that the device owner’s data is protected.
Additionally, users can deactivate the swipe up or down in the camera to change the camera. Notifications are now also separated into cards and have app icons. Even the Recycle Bin of My Documents and Gallery were combined into one function to combine new features.

Other companies like Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, Vivo, Xiaomi, Nothing, and Tecno have already released Android 14 Beta for some of their flagship smartphones. Samsung rolled out the One UI 6.0 Beta to selected markets, including the USA, South Korea, Germany, India, Poland, and the UK. More regions will be added in future updates. In China, the update has been delayed.
If users have feedback, they can send it through the Samsung Members app by clicking “Beta Feedback.” Beta participation can also offer UX- or UI-related feedback through the Suggestions section on the official Beta community forums. If errors occur during beta firmware installation or if the device can no longer boot, users need to visit a Samsung Service Centre and ask for assistance to reinstall their firmware.
