OmniVision announces a 48MP OV48C image sensor with 1.2um and 2.4um

Smartphone camera sensors are rapidly increasing, and Samsung and Sony have already launched the 48MP sensor known as the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 and Sony IMX686, respectively. They were also used by industry-leading OEMs such as Samsung, Huawei, Google, and Apple as custom sensors. On the other handomeplus, Oppo, and Honour were some of the first smartphones to adopt a quad-bayer sensor.  However, Samsung already launched its highest camera, the Count Sensor 108MP, and Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1 Sensor, used by the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. Meanwhile, in December, Sony launched their latest and highest camera count, the 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. 
 
The first to bring the highest sensor apart from them, OmniVision launched their first 48MP latest and highest camera count for top-notch high-end smartphones, the OmniVision OV48C. This sensor has a 1.2-micron pixel size and a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, compared with the Sony IMX586 1/1.3″ and Samsung GW1 1/2″ and Nokia 800 Pureview 1/1.2″ image sensors. Not to mention the OmniVision High-Resolution Sensor for a better low-light flagship sensor.
This is the industry’s first to offer on-chip dual-conversion HDR support, which “eliminates motion artefacts and features a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR/(S/N)).” Moreover, the device will deliver a 4-cell colour filter array (BCFA-Buried Colour Filter) and hardware mosaic. It can even record 8K video and recode it in real-time.
 
Furthermore, the holo of near-pixel binning provides 12 MP images for 4K2K video with 4x sensitivity and 2.4 micron-equivalent performance. Not to mention, it comes in the best quality—images without motion blur. The device likely enables a digital zoom to be considered a lossless zoom alongside a fast-mode switch. It also features a CPHY interface with fast autofocus and OV48C on 4C Hald Chief phase detection.
In terms of video recording, it can record a video at 60 fps (ZSL) and a 4K2K video at 60 fps (EIS). Similarly, a 1080 pixel slow-motion at 240 fps Additionally, 70p at 360fps, a 1080 pixel at 960fps, and 1080 at 480fps. Thanks for being with us.
