Meta: With end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messenger applications across the globe. Because of this, we have privacy. Chat between sender and recipient can’t be intercepted by a third party. Unfortunately, when it comes to backups on Google Drive and iCloud, they don’t have encryption enabled by default. Today, in this guide, we will be sharing how you can enable end-to-end encryption for WhatsApp Backup. Follow the following instructions mentioned below; check it out.
Enable end-to-end encryption for WhatsApp Cloud Backup.
If you disable end-to-end encryption for WhatsApp, then it won’t be able to continue cloud backup. Later, you have to re-enable the backup. Before proceeding, you have to update WhatsApp to the latest version from the Google Play Store or App Store.
- Open WhatsApp Settings, and then head over to Chat.Â
- Go to Chat Backup, and then select the end-to-end encrypted backup option.
- From there, click on Turn On, and then enter the password (a 64-digit encrypted key or password for WhatsApp backups).Â
- Next, tap on Create, and keep waiting for WhatsApp to create an encrypted backup.Â
- That’s it!
Note: It will proceed to update your backup to Google Drive or iCloud according to your WhatsApp settings. To restore your WhatsApp Cloud Backup, you must enter the 7-digit backup or 64-digit encrypted key on a different device.
