Recently, a lot of Samsung users reported experiencing battery drain issues after the OneUI 5.1 update. Samsung has confirmed the issue and has also fixed it for users. This issue has surfaced after the One UI 5.1 update to older devices like the Galaxy S22 Series, where it causes the battery drain issue after the update to the Samsung Keyboard, even if the keyboard isn’t being used.
The issue was not clear at first, as many users could notice the excess battery usage by the Samsung Keyboard from the Battery Usage Statistics on Galaxy Phones. Samsung acknowledged the issue and also shared why the issue was being caused. The battery drain on One UI 5.1 is caused by the stickers and emoji process, even if the keyboard isn’t being used, causing more battery consumption than necessary.
How to Fix Battery Drain Life Issues After Updating to One UI 5.1 Samsung Keyboard for Some Users?
After Galaxy S22 users, other Galaxy devices that received the One UI 5.1 update have similar battery drain issues, including the Galaxy S21 Series, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Samsung has started rolling out the Android 13-based One UI 5.1 after the Galaxy S23 Release, which brings features like the major camera upgrade and the Image Clipper feature even to older Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
To fix the One UI 5.1 Keyboard causing the Samsung Galaxy battery drain, the company has already started rolling out the update to the Samsung Keyboard for One UI 5.1 to fix the battery drain issues. Samsung has started rolling out the patch update to the Samsung keyboard, which Samsung Galaxy users can update from the Galaxy Store.
Users can download Samsung Keyboard V5.6.10.31, which was released on March 2. Samsung has asked its Galaxy smartphone and tablet users to update their keyboards to the latest version to avoid any further battery drain issues. In most cases, Samsung automatically updates its apps in the background by default. If you haven’t updated, then you can do so by opening the Galaxy Store, heading over to updates, and then tapping on the Update All button to update your Galaxy apps on your device.
It is advised that users do not sideload to upgrade their Samsung keyboard as it has already been causing battery problems, and they don’t want to encourage any additional or unofficial activity. The company is also working on making it more stable, and further improvements are in development, which could be coming in the coming weeks.
After updating your Samsung Keyboard on a device running One UI 5.1, the battery won’t cause any battery drain on your device. If you still face errors, then it is advised that users try clearing the cache and data of the Samsung Keyboard app. Otherwise, try using a different keyboard app like Google Keyboard or Microsoft SwiftKey until this is fixed for all Galaxy device users running One UI 5.1. Don’t forget to report this feedback on your Samsung Member apps.
