What is Android 13?
The first Android 13 developer preview arrived in early February, giving us an early look at Google’s next major release. Since then, the company has released a developer preview or beta every month, with the final release scheduled for August. Android 13 is now available for recent Pixel phones older than the Pixel 4 and 4a cut-off dates.
Since the stable release was made available to both Pixel phones and the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), we can expect other manufacturers to follow suit sooner rather than later. We created a resource to help you determine when your phone will receive Android 13.
How to Downgrade from Android 13 Beta to Android 12?
Android 13 beta users can roll back easily if they are still running the beta. Make sure you take a full backup before proceeding. You can do this by following these steps:
- Navigate to the Android Beta Programme’s official website.
- Locate your device and remove it from the beta.
- Your device will receive an OTA update to stable Android 12, and all data will be erased.
Download the Android SDK Platform Tools.
To downgrade to Android 12, you must first install the Android Debugging Bridge. Install the tools on your desktop for quick access to commands. The most recent platform-tools zip file can be found here.
Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking.
To begin, ensure that Developer Options are enabled on your Pixel.
- You can do so by going to your device. Settings > About phone. Now tap “Build number” until you see a message confirming that developer options are enabled.
- Now navigate to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer options (you may need to expand a hidden menu for this).Â
- Before proceeding, you must scroll down and enable “OEM unlocking,” as this is required for the next steps. Scroll down to the “Debugging” section and select the “Allow USB debugging” option.
