One of the major concerns is spam comments, and it is difficult to identify all of the spammy YouTube comments. YouTube does have such functionality, but it doesn’t seem to be as functional, so ThioJoe comes to the rescue and builds YT Spammer Purge. Today in this article, we will be sharing how you can filter and search for spam comments on someone else’s YouTube channel or your own YouTube channel. Also, how do I delete all those YouTube comments or report them? Follow the instructions mentioned below.

About the YouTube spammer purge

It is a feature-rich utility tool that allows content creators to automatically find spammers and claims to have a 0% false positive rate. Apart from content creators, viewers can also scan through anyone’s channels and report them. Spam comments have always been a headache for content creators and for viewers too. Sometimes they try fishy things like posting random things, commenting multiple times on something bad, and using them to reply to every comment on the video.

How to Install and Use YouTube Spammer Purge

It is quite a straightforward method to perform. For this, check out the following instructions mentioned below:

  • Next, you’ll need some basic pre-requirements before running the YouTube Spammer Purge. Also, if you run this, it will show you an error.
  • For this, you need a YouTube API key. Check out the following guide on how to set up a Google Cloud Project to Get Rid of YouTube Spammers:

Setting up a Google Cloud Project for the YT Spammer Purge

For this, you need an Oauth2 credential to access the scanning and deletion functions via YouTube’s Data API.

  • Open Console.cloud.google.com, and if you have access to the page for the first time, it will ask you to set up your country and agree with the terms of service. (Ensure that you are logged in with your channel account.)
  • Click on Select Project, which appears on the top blue bar next to Google Cloud Platform.
  • Next, click on “New Project.”
  • Then enter the project name, and then click “Create.”
  • Once your project has been successfully created, you can now open the project.
  • Now you need to enable the YouTube API for the YouTube spam page.
  • For this, click on the “Burger” menu that appears in the upper-left corner, and then head over to APIs & Services.
  • Then, choose Library, and from there, search or scroll to the YouTube section to find “YouTube Data API v3.0.”
  • Click on it, and then enable it.
  • It will open the page, or to re-open the page, go to APIs & Services, and then to Dashboard.
  • Now, on that screen, you have all your APIs at the bottom. You may find YouTube Data API v3
  • From there, create credentials by clicking on the “Create Credentials” button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  • Now, name it accordingly. It doesn’t matter. Choose which YouTube Data API v3 you want to use from the drop-down menu. Check the checkbox for user data, and then click Next.
  • After that, in the App Name field, enter the app name, then enter Support Email, and finally your email address.
  • Next, in Scopes, click on Add or Remove Scopes. Go to the next 10 rows until you see the YouTube Data AP V3 (./auth/youtube.force-ssl)., and check the checkbox for the same.
  • Scroll down, and then click Update. Next, it will appear under the Sensitive Scope. Next, go to Applications.
  • Type and choose the desktop app. Finish by giving it a name.
  • That’s it. Download the client’s secret key. What we need is, but you need to rename it client_secrets.json. (Changing and saving the same is important, or else you will encounter this problem.)
  • Move that file to where you have saved your YouTube Spammer Purge package.
  • That’s it!

NOTE: It’s sensitive data, so don’t share your client ID and client secret.

Add your account as a test user to log in.

If you attempt to log in with the same account that you are using, then it will show you an error. To resolve this, you need to add your account as a test user.

  • Navigate to the Google Cloud Platform.
  • Go to the Burger menu, and from there, go to APIs & Services.
  • Head over to the OAuth Consent screen.
  • And then, under Test User, add your Google account (Gmail). (or else you might encounter this issue.)

YouTube Comment Section is starting to become toxic, and creating a safe community on which to build. It’s quite amazing that Google should add identical filtering to YouTube.
