The browser is one of the most essential apps for accessing the internet. With a limited data package, your internet speed may need to be improved, which may delay your work. Some unnecessary functions are enabled on Android smartphones, so check if your service is active with your carrier and if you are not using a VPN.
Most users have reliable mobile internet, but some still need faster browser speeds. If you have been facing issues with your browser, in this article, we will share some tips on increasing mobile internet speed on your Android device.
Standard Practices to Improve Internet Speed on Android Devices and Make Existing Bandwidth More Efficient
Despite practicing some of the recommended methods, slow internet speeds may still occur due to your location. This may be a crowded area or peak time when the tower becomes overloaded with many people using the same network. This could slow your internet speed.
- Close unused apps.
- Restart your phone.
- Check for data-draining apps.
- Clear your browser’s cache.
- Too many active apps or tabs
- Use a different browser.
- Reset your network settings.
- Turn off auto-updates for apps.
- Turn off unnecessary functions.
- Update your phone’s software.
- Update your device’s software to the latest version.
Some features you don’t need
These features are enabled by default and may cause your internet connection speed to be slow, even if you have a data plan.
- Disable saving data.
- Disable Wi-Fi calling.
- Disable Background App Refresh.
- Disable automatic app updates.
- Older devices may need to handle the latest speeds.
Noteworthy: Before proceeding, note that your network provider can also affect your internet speed. Try switching to a different network to see if it improves.
Improve your mobile internet speed on your Android device to enjoy faster browsing.
Sometimes slow internet and data speeds are due to changes in developer options. For example, if the network download speed limit is low in Android Developer Options mode, data, and other functions may not work typically.
To improve your mobile internet speed, follow these steps:
- Enable the developer options. To do this, navigate to Device Settings > About Device > Build Number, and tap it seven times. This will enable Developer Mode and display the message “You are now a developer!”.
- After enabling Developer Mode, navigate to Developer Options and toggle on the “Force 4x MSAA” option.
- Check for “network download speed limit” or “network download rate limit” and enter the desired download speed in kilobits per second (kbps), or select the “no limit” option.
- Tap “OK” and restart your device to apply the changes.
Note: Setting a low download speed value may affect some apps’ and features’ performance.
Optimise network connectivity.
As a last resort, factory reset your phone. This can sometimes fix data speed problems.
- Ensure that your device is registered on the network. Settings > Connections > Mobile Network > Network Operators > Select automatically.
- Set the network mode to auto-connect. “Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network Mode SIM/SIM2 > 5G/LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
- Reset network settings: Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings > Reset Settings > Reset.
