Companies do costly work on different designs and things by incorporating different levels of technology. We have seen some concepts that come with future smartphones. Everything has to start somewhere, and some concepts go through prototypes and testing; once they mature, they are introduced to consumer-centric smartphones.
Let’s take a look at some of the weirdest concept smartphones that look cool. These could become a reality shortly as technology matures and manufacturers discover better ways to implement them in smaller designs or improve their usability. Without further ado, let’s dive into this.
Weirdest Concept Smartphone Designs
These are some of the quirkiest and most unusual mobile devices showcased. Check out these 2023 models.
These concepts have been shared at events like CES, while others have been developed in-house and kept under wraps until they are ready for release. We can expect some successful transitions from prototypes to consumer-centric smartphones, although as of now, they don’t meet performance and durability standards.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept
One of the unique-looking smartphones that features a real lens from Sony. It has a 1″ Sony IMX-989 camera sensor with a Leica M lens. This allows the smartphone to function exactly like a DSLR camera, with impressive sensor performance. Xiaomi also incorporates advanced computational photography algorithms to further refine image noise, details, and quality.
Motorola Rizr rollable phone
One of the best prototype designs was presented at MWC 2023. The company showcased its extendable screen, which can transform from a 5″ display with a 15:9 aspect ratio to a 6.5″ display with a 22:9 aspect ratio. Similar to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept, it is not yet available for consumers. When the device is folded over the rolled-up display, it functions as a secondary display, showing notifications similar to regular foldable smartphones.
OnePlus 11
OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 11, which is said to save OnePlus from their previous embarrassment of building bad smartphones. It brings back OnePlus to people who like OnePlus smartphones. The device comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen Soc, paired with 8/16GB of RAM and 128/256/512GB of onboard storage. However, the design of the rear-camera model seems a bit weird, but it is set to give the OnePlus its unique look.
On top of the OnePlus 11, the company has made a device with liquid cooling aimed at managing heat better, which further improves performance during extensive tasks.
Honour X9A
The device comes with a 6.67″ 120Hz AMOLED display panel, and under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 SoC, paired with 8/6GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. In terms of the camera, the device has a 64MP + 5MP + 2MP rear camera module. The device mimics Huawei’s Mate 40 Series design. Here, it features a massive rear camera with Matrix branding on the camera.
Honor V Purse Concept
This device is completely designed to be a fashion accessory. As this device has a visible foldable display on both sides, it is used to complement different outfits. Not only this, but the Honour V Purse functions only as a phone without space for typical purse items like keys or makeup. Women in Tech have shared concerns about the company designing a device for women without understanding the needs of V Purse.
These are some of the most weird and wonderful smartphones that were unveiled, the concepts that made it to market, and which ones remain just prototypes. Technology will mature over time, and as OEMs continue to innovate, we can expect to see more devices revealed shortly.
