We do face this issue where we clear all the notifications and then later realise that we swiped the notification from the notification panel. If you have a Samsung smartphone, then you can get your notifications from the notification history. It comes in quite handy if you enable this setting.

There could be several reasons why you would want to enable notification history. This is one of the most useful features, as we have all faced similar issues with missing notifications. Also, for people who have been using WhatsApp message notifications to read deleted messages, Samsung does offer this functionality within their custom skin, One UI 5 based on Android, which can help you with missing notifications.

So let’s take a closer look at how you can enable notification history on a Samsung device. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the following instructions mentioned below, as this feature is not enabled by default. All Samsung Galaxy users running One UI 5 or higher can enable notification history from their device settings, and the instructions are quite straightforward.

  • Open your device’s settings.
  • Next, tap on “Apps & Notifications.” From there, head over to “Notifications.”.
  • From there, head over to “Advanced Settings.”.
  • Now, you can enable notification history.

Once you enable this feature, if you missed or dismissed any notifications, you can head over to this page and then check your notification history from here. This functionality could be more beneficial if Samsung could add a notification history button for quick access so we don’t need to head over to the notification history on the Samsung device every time.

Samsung devices pack a lot of useful features and quality-of-life improvements. Keeping track of all your notifications ensures that you don’t miss any important information by mistake. From the notification history in the settings, you can check all the notifications and also reply to messages, check reminders, or follow links that you missed before.

Enable Notification History on Any Android Device

This feature is also available on Android smartphones with Android 12 or higher. Some OEMs have packed this functionality into their version of a custom Android skin.

  • Open Device Settings and head over to Notifications.
  • From there, you can find the notification history. From there, you need to enable the notification history.

Note: Settings for Android could differ based on OEMs. You can check Apps & Notifications, and from there you can find the Notification History toggle option to enable. If your device doesn’t have this feature, then you can use any notification history log from the Google Play Store.

The Notification History page has two different sections for your notification history. The first includes all your conversations grouped by the app. Another is notifications, which have been grouped by the app, and by splitting them into two different sections, it is handy to check the notifications by a specific type.

This will save notifications for the last 24 hours of notifications on your device. Any notification within 24 hours will be saved in the Notification History for later access. However, some users reported that saving the notification history could slow down their Android devices in some cases.

With the same action, you can later disable the notification history if you want for any reason. You can also snooze the notification by simply swiping, for which you can enable Notification Snoozing in the device settings and set a convenient time according to your preference.
