Hey there, tech enthusiasts! I wanted to share some exciting news about Windows 11. Microsoft has already rolled out some major updates in September with Moment 4, ahead of the Windows 11 23H2 update. While we won’t see any groundbreaking changes, the 23H2 update is crucial for resetting the Windows Update Cycle. Plus, rumor has it that Windows 12 is set to release next year. Until then, we’ll keep getting updates and resets to keep things fresh and ready for the big refresh.
What Came With the Moment 4 September 26 Update?
The latest update brought us Microsoft CoPilot, New Outlook, task ungrouping labels, updated system components like Calculator, codecs like HEVC, extensions, new emojis, Windows Spotlight for Desktop, a new homepage for Settings, and a bunch of other fixes. Pretty neat, right?
Windows 11 23H2 Update
This update is one of the big ones. Microsoft plans to reset the Windows Update cycle with new hardware compatibility. Windows 11 23H2 will optimize all the previous Moment Update 22H2 features with a System Component page, Notification Centre enhancements, and much more.
After the launch of Windows 12, Windows 11 will continue to receive updates, but they’ll be more about improvements than significant changes. The 23H2 update has already started rolling out to Device Channels, bringing cool features like Chat Now and the Microsoft Teams Free version pinned by default in the taskbar.
Windows 11 23H2 ISO
The Windows 11 23H2 ISO has recently surfaced online on Microsoft’s server, confirming that the 23H2 update is ready to be pushed in the coming weeks. Microsoft might release it sometime in November. Initially, two versions of Windows 11 23H2 will be available in English (United States) and Chinese.
The commercial rollout is just around the corner, so we’ll learn more as Windows 11 starts testing the update. With this update, Microsoft also aims to extend hardware compatibility support, which is essential considering their plans to announce Windows Refresh, Windows vNext, or Windows 12 by the end of 2024.
Right now, there’s no Windows 11 23H2 for everyone, but to make sure you get notified when it’s available for your device, enable “Get the latest update as soon as they’re available” by navigating to Windows Settings (Windows + I) > Windows Update. From there, on the right panel, you can toggle it. Alternatively, you can download Windows 11 23H2 from the Software Download page of the Microsoft ISO build once it’s available.
Looking Ahead
Windows 12 is also expected to be announced next year, which means Windows 11 23H2 could be the last release of Windows 11. Microsoft’s Lifecycle Policy has already confirmed that Windows 11 22H2 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstation editions will be supported until October 8, 2024.
