It’s a pretty easy way to add natural-sounding voiceover to your videos thanks to TikTok’s text-to-speech feature; although TikTok primarily views text-to-speech as an accessibility solution for people with impaired vision. TikTok’s text-to-speech feature automatically reads out any text the creator has put over their videos using a high-quality AI voice.
The TikTok Newsroom officially announced text-to-speech on December 15, 2020. TikTok videos will be narrated by a synthetic voice similar to Siri and other voice assistants thanks to machine learning and artificial intelligence. Here’s how to easily add fun sound effects to a video using TikTok’s voice-to-text feature. Follow our step-by-step guide right now to find out how.
Narrating your TikTok videos with text-to-speech
If you want TikTok’s text-to-speech feature, upload a video, then type some text on top of the video, then tap the bubble in the text box that says “Text-to-Speech”.
- TikTok is the best app for recording videos.
- Click “Text” at the bottom of the editing screen.
- To add the text over the video, type it out.
- Choose “Text-to-Speech” from the menu when you have just typed out a line of text.
- When watching a video, TikTok will automatically read aloud the selected text.
Though you cannot choose the gender of the voice created by TikTok’s AI, it can create either a male or female voice. The viewer can instead only hear the synthetic narration if the original audio is removed. Set the volume to 0% by selecting “Sound” at the bottom, then “Volume”. Tap the text box and select the option to remove AI narration from the video.
