Google released a new update to its Office Suite; Google Docs received another update where it had some advanced features to enhance writing style. It has already had autocorrect and grammar checks for a long time; with this new update, Google offers different stylistics and writing suggestions.
While writing, you have more suggestions, like removing redundant words, active voice, and alternate words to eliminate the frequent use of repetitive words in a document. Also, Google Docs has improved significantly with the suggestion that it can now identify potentially discriminatory and inappropriate expressions.
What is new in Google Docs?
- Alternate wording
- Using an active voice
- Making the sentence structure more concise
- Use of more inclusive language
- Potentially inappropriate words
Users can check the suggestions by clicking on the purple line, which appears at the bottom of the words. These help with tone and style suggestions based on the paragraph. After clicking on the word suggestion, you can either accept or reject the suggestion.
Meanwhile, the red underline refers to misspellings and the blue underline refers to grammar errors. As of now, Google is rolling out this feature, enabled by default, and gradually rolling it out to Google Workspace users.
How to enable or disable Google stylistic and writing
- Open Google Docs.
- Go to Tools.
- From there, choose the stylistic suggestions on the Web based on your preferences.
- That is it!
Note: Education administrators will have the privilege to disable this entirely. This feature is only available
