Microsoft just released the Android Subsystem for Windows 11 Beta, and it is likely to be released for Insider Preview with a future update. Windows 11 comes with the Amazon App Store, and it doesn’t bring a lot of Android apps, but with sideloading, you can use APK apps to install on your Windows device.
Simone Franco developed WSATool on the Microsoft Store, which allows users to sideload Android apps with ease without using the command line. With this, WSATool functions similarly to a GUI in emulating ADB commands to install Android applications on Windows 11.

You can use your File Manager to download the apk and install the Android apps. So without further ado, let’s check it out.
How to Sideload Android Apps and Apks from Windows 11 File Manager
- Starting with the open start and searching for “environment” to open and change the system environment variable.
- Then click on “Environment Variables.”
- Head over to the “path” variable, which appears in the bottom half of the environment variable and appears under the system variable.
- After selecting Path, click Browser, and then go to where your ADB Platform tool is located.
- Choose, and then click OK.
- Next, confirm your action by saving it.
Once everything is done, you will need to enable developer mode in the Windows Subsystem for Android. Keep your WSA enabled in continuous mode, so anytime you have an app, you can install the app from your Windows 11 File Manager.
You should have Android Subsym installed on your Windows to sideload. It won’t just directly install Android apps on your device and go to the Android application.
The WSATool’s developer confirms that more functions are being worked on and that a stable version will be available for everyone on the Microsoft Store soon. Hopefully, this article was helpful, and you were able to successfully sideload an Android app on Windows 11. If there is any query, share it with us in the comment section below.
