Samsung has announced a new firmware update for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. The update includes an enhanced accessibility feature that improves ambient sound quality and adds another section called “adapt ambient sound” that improves the clarity of environmental sounds that come through the earbuds. The enhanced ambient sound feature was released on Global Accessibility Awareness Day to help people with sound amplification.
It’s critical to note that the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro should not be used as a medical device. However, they are less expensive than over-the-counter hearing aids and offer more flexibility for ambient sound. To install the update, it would be best to have a Galaxy smartphone with Android 8.0 or later and 1.5 GB of RAM or above. Samsung plans to expand the update to more countries soon.
Advanced Ambient Sound Feature for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro
The update is already available in South Korea with build number R510XXU0AWF3. This also improves the Ambient Sound Volume Slider, which now offers 5 amplification levels, previously limited to 3. Additionally, there is an adjustable call clarity feature, which is helpful in noisy environments. There is also a Hearing Assistance and Listen Louder option.
- Hearing assistance
- Adjust the call clarity.
- Hearing aid and louder listening
- Overall performance has improved.
- A more personalised listening experience
- Improved the Ambient Sound Volume Slider
- Ambient sound can be adjusted independently for each ear.
Apart from this, there is also an updated feature in the Labs menu. This includes adjusting animation sharpness, listening louder, and enhancing ambient sound. It further comprises how much ambient sound users want to hear in each ear. It is also possible to check the volume of each earbud independently. Users can fine-tune their ambient sound settings to suit various needs, adjust the volume on the left and the right, respectively, and customise their ambient sound tone from soft to clear across five different stages.
Update for Samsung Galaxy Buds 2
The update will be available in other regions soon. It will give users without hearing impairments more control over ambient sound modes. This feature is already available on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.
It’s still being determined if the advanced ambient sound feature will be available on older Galaxy Buds models. To check, you can download the latest Buds 2 Pro.
To install the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 update, follow these steps:
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app and connect your smartphone.
- Search for an earbud software update. You won’t be able to use your headphones while installing the update.
- Pair the Galaxy Buds 2 with an Android phone by placing the buds inside the case next to your phone. Open the lid and wait for a prompt to appear on your phone.
- Be patient and let the system complete the installation procedure.
You can download the update through the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone or tablet. On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Samsung wasn’t the only company to announce upcoming advancements. Apple also announced several improvements and features to iOS and iPadOS, including cognitive, speech, and vision accessibility.
