Oppo has been teasing there rollable smartphone for quite a bit. Meanwhile, Oppo has skipped the foldable device and taking an approach to the rollable smartphone. Oppo’s innovation lab demo there Oppo Air Charging and Rollable smartphone on Oppo X 2021.

MWC 2021 (Mobile World Congress) is nearby. In Oppo X 2021, they have shown through a video in which the device is charging. The device is usable within the distance of one-arm without any contact with a charging pad.

However, Oppo hasn’t shared details about it, but it potentially delivers a 7.5W of charging, according to reports. Back in 2020, on April Fool day, Oppo has shared tech called FreeVOOC, but it not identical. This tech requires you to be within the are of 10meter to achieve a charging power in-between 5-10W.

On the other hand, Oppo releases there rollable smartphone in which device the device can extend from 6.7-inch to 4.7-inch with a press of a button placed on the edge of the device. Therefore, the device was utilizing the OLED display panel using Warp track gives it 0.1mm thickness.

Meanwhile, there isn’t detail about the external material used in the device. The difference from Samsung Foldable is that Samsung uses hind, which makes creases on display. In contrast, Oppo uses a dual rollable motor to avoid creases and it more like an expandable smartphone.

Under the hood, Oppo has done many changes with the ColorOS to achieve smooth animation and usability. In terms of the camera sensor, there is a three-camera module. Even more, it is 9mm thick compare to Samsung’s 16mm thick while folding. The biggest advantage is the device can be extended based on your preferences.

Oppo hasn’t confirmed any release date yet as they have showcased the future device. Meanwhile, LG and Samsung planning to bring the commercial unit quite soon. We can expect the device from Oppo but initially in china and later for a global.
