Today at the 43rd General Meeting (AGM), Jio announced the investment from Google on Jio Platform with Rs. 33737 Crore for 7.7% stake. Whereas, they Reliance Jio announced the new entry-level affordable 4G/5G smartphone based on Android with Google Mobile Services. This was performed online due to the current situation of Coronavirus pandemic.

Mukesh Ambani saidThe Jio-Google partnership is determined to make India 2G-mukt,” Adding.
“Google and Reliance Jio are partnering to build a value-engineered Android-based smartphone operating system. Through this partnership, we can accelerate the national mission of putting a smart device in the hands of every Indian,”

The primary aim is to deliver a smartphone or access the internet at an affordable price across India includes 35 Crores, Indian users. Meanwhile, Jio already had a Jio Phone that was one of the most popular feature device having internet access running on KaiOS. Additiaonnly, Reliance Jio also going to bring 5G connectivity in India with utilizing the investment

“Even though we have sold over 100 million [10 crores] Jio phones… there are many feature phone users who are waiting to upgrade to a conventional smartphone, if only it were somehow more affordable. So we have decided to address this challenge,” Mukesh Ambani Statement.

Not to mention, this partnership will lead to be having access to the internet, and it also going to boost the digital economy of India. Meanwhile, it was also going to promote cashless as far as people going to use the internet frequently. Meanwhile, Google and Jio both going to include the Mobile service pre-installed on the device itself.
