TikTok is one of the most addictive social media applications, and a lot of people are thinking about how they can restrict themselves to save mobile data and time. For that, disabling the autoplay for TikTok can potentially help.
It was by default turned on since it only used 15s video format (Short Video Platform), and to make the app more engaging, it was enabled. Watching content is way better than relying on autoplay. Use the following guide to disable TikTok Autoplay on your mobile device, regardless of the OS (Android and iOS) you are using.
Turn off TikTok’s autoplay functionality
Users are unconscious while watching content, especially when their settings are set to autoplay. If they enable it, they might reduce the watching of their TikTok significantly. Developers keep up with the interaction of users by offering them interest-based content, user-friendly UI/UX, and much more.
There are no options under TikTok Settings that can stop TikTok AutoPlay functionality. For this, you need to use a third-party application.
There are multiple third-party applications available to use, but most of the time they malfunction. Since it requires accessibility permission to monitor and perform actions on your device itself, it should not be on the list of battery optimisations that remain active.
- Download and install the TikTok Autoplay app.
- Give it the necessary permissions it asks for.
- After that, head over to Settings and enable if there is an option to disable auto-swipe or auto-play. Meanwhile, disable it if it asks for auto-swipe or auto-play functionality.
- That’s it!
These apps were used to enable autoplay, but using them to disable autoplay also works. Reportedly, it doesn’t function as expected. These apps were not rated well, and even reviews show the same. But giving a short can help since there is no way to turn off TikTok autoplay.
Enable Data Saver to Save Battery and Save Data
- Launch TikTok, and then tap on the Me icon.
- Which will appear at the bottom-right of your screen.
- Next, tap on the triple-horizontal dots placed in the upper-right corner of the screen to open the Security and Privacy Page.
- Head over to General, and then choose Data Saver.
- Toggle to enable Data Saver for TikTok on your device.
- That’s it!
People have been asking this for a long time, but TikTok is not going with this option. Since it is a basic and most-needed feature, TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms. They should provide this option in the settings. We can hope that maybe in the future they will consider adding this feature to TikTok, but it doesn’t look like they are going to do so quite imminently.
