Last November, Amazon announced its free AWS Skill Builder offering for online learning. Now, Amazon is monetising the cloud computing course with a monthly subscription model that includes more services and features. Features such as Builder Lab, a practical guided experience, and a sandboxed AWS account for practice are included. Enrolling in AWS Skill Builder comes in two different packages apart from Free Digital Learning: an individual subscription and a team subscription.
Individual subscriptions are priced at $29 per month or $299 per year. On the other hand, the Team Subscription costs $499 annually and focuses on enterprise features like assigned training, progress reports, and SSO integrations. Top tech giants like Google also offer similar courses for free, called Google Cloud Skills, to boost developers’ and companies’ ecosystems. Reportedly, more than 40 million people use Google’s cloud platform.
Amazon’s package offers exam prep courses, three AWS Certification practice exams, and 100 AWS Builder Labs. Amazon’s AWS Skill Builder is accessible across 200 countries and territories, and Team Subscription is available in 13 countries. Amazon aims to educate 29 million people by the end of 2025. So, are you ready to level up your cloud skills with AWS or Google Cloud?
