Remembering passwords for all our apps and devices sometimes comes with pain. Due to this we all have some accounts, even accounts that got hacked to encounter all such problems. There is a well-known password manager available to use.

Nevertheless, it is still vulnerable in this case due to some data breaches and push attacks; all of these could lead to compromised identity and personal information. These social engineers or hackers are potentially spying on people and stealing money from your bank account. Such attacks are accountable for more than 80% of data breaches.

Google, Microsoft, Apple, and others are working towards passwordless login for apps and websites via the FIDO Alliance. Apple announced Paskeys at WWDC 2022 and uses Web Authentication (WebAuthn) to replace digital passwords.

Apple’s Passkey is coming to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura this fall.

Face ID and Touch ID verification give you the convenience and biometrics we can achieve with an iPhone. You don’t have to buy another device, and you don’t even have to learn a new habit.

Passkeys have become more secure and easy to use with the introduction of Passkeys. Hackers cannot hack it because it is not stored on the web server but on the device itself. Passkey uses device biometrics such as touch ID or face IF for biometric authentication.

iCloud Keychain syncs across iPhone, Mac, and Apple TV with end-to-end encryption. Meanwhile, other companies have tried to replace the password with a physical key, which is not for general-case scenarios. It does require you to have dedicated hardware, which makes the process complicated.

Apple is making for a wider user base. Since the iPhone comes with leveraged functionality and uses these passwords based on cryptography, if the platform does not support Face ID or Touch ID, it will generate a QR code, which is then read by your device to confirm the device.

On top of this, passwords can be shared via AirDrop. You can also continue verification on other platforms, like Windows. When you try to log in, your platform will generate a QR code to scan on your iPhone for authentication.
