Microsoft has already released significant updates in September with Moment 4 ahead of Windows 11 23H2, so there will not be any significant updates. However, Windows 11 23H2 is essential to reset the Windows Update Cycle. In addition, reports indicate that Windows 12 will be released next year. Until then, Microsoft will keep updating and resetting the update cycle until the Windows refresh is ready.

With the Moment 4 September 26 update, it brings Microsoft CoPilot, New Outlook, task ungrouping labels, updated system components like Calculator, codecs like HEVC, extensions, new emojis, Windows Spotlight for Desktop, a new homepage for Settings, and other fixes.

Windows 11 23H2 Update

The update is said to be one of the significant updates. The company will reset the Windows Update cycle with new hardware compatibility. Windows 11 23H2 will further optimize all the previous Moment Update 22H2 features with a System component page, Notification Centre enhancements, and much more.

After the launch of Windows 12, Windows 11 continues to receive updates, but these will be improvements and not significant changes. Windows 11 23H2 has already been rolled out to the Device Channels, and with that, we have seen significant improvements, including Chat now, with the Microsoft Teams Free version pinned by default to the taskbar.

Windows 11 23H2 ISO

The Windows 11 23H2 ISO has recently surfaced online on Microsoft’s server, confirming that Microsoft is ready to push the 23H2 update in the coming weeks. Reportedly, Microsoft may release it sometime in November, as the Windows 11 23H2 ISO is already ready to be published. Initially, two versions of Windows 11 23H2 will be available in English (United States) and Chinese.

The commercial rollout is ready to roll out in the next few days, and we will learn more as Windows 11 starts testing the update. With this update, the company also aims to extend hardware compatibility support, which is essential when considering Microsoft’s plans to announce Windows Refresh, Windows vNext, or Windows 12 by the end of 2024.

At this moment, there is no Windows 11 23H2 for everyone, but to ensure you do get notified when Windows 11 23H2 is available for your device, enable “Get the latest update as soon as they’re available” by navigating to Windows Settings (Windows + I) > Windows Update. From there, on the right panel, you can toggle it. Alternatively, you can download Windows 11 23H2 from the Software Download page of the Microsoft ISO build once it is available.

In addition, Windows 12 is also expected to be announced next year, which means Windows 11 23H2 could be the last release of Windows 11. Microsoft Lifecycle Policy has already confirmed that Windows 11 22H2 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstation editions reached their lifecycle, which was supported until October 8, 2024.
